Beyonce Becomes the Fifth Woman Ever to Wear the Famous Yellow Tiffany Diamond
Worn by only four other women since its creation, Tiffany released exclusive imagery earlier this week, revealing Beyonce wearing the iconic yellow diamond necklace in her debut campaign for the brand.
A star in its own right, the exquisite 128.54ct yellow diamond centre stone was originally mined from the Kimberley mine in South Africa in 1877 and purchased by Charles Tiffany, founder of the renowned jewellery company.
Though the stunning diamond has an extensive history, it has only ever been worn by four other women in total.
The diamond’s debut came 80 years after its initial discovery, when Mary White House, wife of American diplomat Sheldon Whitehouse, wore the captivating diamond to a Tiffany Ball in 1957.
The next person to wear the diamond pendant came many years after this in 1961, when none other than actress Audrey Hepburn, showcased the diamond during publicity for the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
The diamond was reset in jewellery designs and also on display as part of a museum exhibit in the years that followed, until the 2019 Oscars when Lady Gaga claimed her award for Best Actress in A Star Is Born, embellishing her yellow gown with the iconic Tiffany diamond necklace.
In quick succession, actress Gal Gadot was the next to wear the stunning piece of during during filming in 2020 for Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile.
Now Beyoncé has become only the fiftth woman to ever wear the diamond for her and husband Jay-Z’s debut campaign with Tiffany & Co.
