Kate Middleton’s brother has announced he’s engaged and his fiancée’s ring looks very familiar.
James Middleton, brother to Kate Middleton, has just announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend, Alizee Thevenet.
The happy couple couldn’t resist posting a photograph announcing the exciting news Instagram, all smiles in front of a picturesque backdrop.
The photo gaves us a lucky glimpse at Alizee’s new engagement ring, which eagle-eyed followers have noticed is very similar to Kate Middleton’s iconic engagement ring.
If you didn’t know already Kate Middleton’s engagement ring is a stunning sapphire and diamond cluster ring, which belonged to Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana. Estimated to have been worth £28,500 when Prince Charles proposed to Diana, the ring today is priceless because of its history and sentimentality within the royal family.
Whilst Kate Middleton’s sapphire was an oval-cut, Alizee’s appears to be more angular and could possibly be a large princess-cut sapphire surrounded by a cluster of diamonds, set in a platinum band.
Regardless of whether or not James Middleton drew inspiration from his sister Kate’s striking engagement ring, or the resemblance is purely coincidental, there is no denying that Alizee’s new ring is an eternal classic.
