PIERCING FAQS

We recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. However, dependant on availability we are occasionally able to offer walk-in appointments.

If you’re unable to attend your scheduled booking, we are happy to rearrange the appointment but kindly ask that you give us a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. If you want to reschedule your appointment on the day, you risk losing your deposit.

We carry out lobe piercings for ages 6+. For cartilage piercings, we only pierce ages 16+

An individual must be 6 years of age or older to have their ears pierced. Any individual that is 16 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We only carry out ear piercings with jewellery from our dedicated piercing collection. However, we do offer an elegant selection of earring designs suitable to purchase once your new piercing has fully healed.

Yes, you can travel after getting your ears pierced. However, we’d recommend you to read through our Aftercare Guide to learn about caring for your new piercing, as it is recommended that you do not swim whilst the piercing is still healing.

In order to determine whether we are able to re-pierce an old piercing we’d recommend you visiting us in store ahead of booking an appointment, where a trained member of the team can assess your old piercing. Scar tissue can vary by person and whilst it is possible to re-pierce an old piercing in many cases, in some situations it is not possible.

The minimum healing time for lobe piercings is 6-12 weeks and 1 year for cartilage piercings. It’s very common to experience discomfort following an ear piercing as it can take a little while to fully heal. Continue to use aftercare solution to keep the piercing clean and take extra care not to catch or knock it, which will cause further irritation.

Everyone heals differently, but the recommended time to wait before changing your piercing jewellery is 6 weeks for lobe piercings and 12 weeks for cartilage. If you are unsure, please get in touch with us, or visit us in store to speak with one of our trained piercers who will be able to help.

If you’ve recently had your ears pierced, then try not to wait longer than 24 hours to visit us in store to receive help from one of our trained piercers. If you’ve had your piercing for the required healing time, you may be able to replace with jewellery from your own collection.

To stop the piercing from closing up, use a plaster to keep the earing in place and visit us in store or get in touch with us to organise a replacement.

At Wakefields we take our customer’s privacy and right to data protection very seriously and we are committed to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations. We aim to apply the most appropriate physical and technical measures, including staff training and awareness. Our studio provides services which require us to collect and store data. This is a requirement from the local council and our insurers and needs to be stored for a minimum of three years.

As a normal part of our services at Wakefields we collect and hold your personal data such as your name, address, telephone number, email address as well as some medical information. We do not make any of your details available to any unauthorised persons or businesses such as direct-mail or other marketing companies. The physical data collected on customer consent forms is stored in a safe manner which prevents unauthorised staff, members of the public or other businesses from being able to access, copy or share any of your personal data.

Wakefields and all the piercers are fully licensed and registered with the local council for all the work we carry out. We pride ourselves in our strict compliance with all health and safety regulations and are proud to exceed all minimum requirements set by the council. We are also fully insured for ourselves and our clients.
