Our story began in the late 1890’s when John Wakefield rode into Horsham, West Sussex, on a penny farthing bicycle with only five pounds in his pocket. Quickly finding work as an apprentice watchmaker in a local shop, John dreamed that one day he would open a business of his own. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit his dream soon became reality, when in 1911 he first opened the doors to Wakefields Jewellers
