Myleene Klass is Engaged – Take a Closer Look at her Unique Diamond Engagement Ring
This week Myleene Klass announced news of her engagement to Simon Motson in a Hello Magazine exclusive. The feature unveiled her stunning new diamond engagement ring and details of the proposal.
Simon reportedly proposed on the fifth anniversary of their first date together, popping the question with a token ‘promise ring’ that allowed the couple to design a bespoke engagement ring together that Myleene was guaranteed to love.
Promise rings (sometimes also referred to as placeholder rings) have grown in popularity in recent years. The idea being that the proposal takes place with a temporary ring, replaced later by an engagement ring that is chosen by the couple together. Placeholder rings provide the perfect solution for anyone unsure of what sort of ring style to select for their loved one, or anyone who wants to design a unique piece of bespoke jewellery together with their partner.
Myleene’s engagement ring features a huge 7.6 carat emerald-cut black diamond, surrounded by a cluster of sparkling white diamonds. The ring showcases an elegant split-shank crafted from either white gold or platinum.
The stunning black diamond ring is the latest in a flurry of celebrity engagement rings to feature an emerald-cut centre stone. Most recently both Demi Lovato and Nicola Peltz have both opted for the elegant stone cut.
It's popularity is understandable considering it's an incredibly sophisticated and universally flattering cut, the elongated design suiting most wearers. It could also mark a new trend moving away from the curved pear-cut and oval-cut rings that dominated the jewellery industry the previous year.
