It was a step back in time for Melanie Wakefield and her partner, Willie Hamilton last week, as the pair visited the Goodwood Revival 2015. In celebration of Rolex being the proud sponsor of the event, the pair were able to see all the delights to behold during the day.

From classic motorcars to vintage aviation displays, Melanie and Willie joined in on all the fun and excitement of the day, even donning their retro-inspired outfits in order to truly be part of the spirit of the day. Amidst a sea of red lipstick, glory rolls, trilbies and seamed stockings, the photographs look as though they were captured from a completely different era.

But with too many wonderful moments to be narrated, the pair have selected their personal highlight from the day to share with us all:

Marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the Freddie March Spirit of Aviation display was truly a sight to behold. With more than 20 Spitfires, three Hurricanes and a Blenheim Bomber on show, the pair were able to absorb the fantastic heritage of the aircraft. Arguably one of the biggest attractions that gathers the crowds to the Revival each year, the opportunity to witness such prestigious aircraft as part of a unique and unforgettable experience was duly appreciated by both newcomers to the event, and aviation enthusiasts alike.

In keeping with the excitement of the larger than life event, lunch was no ordinary state of affairs. The pair were invited to a private Rolex lunch, with none other than three times World Drivers’ Championship winner, Sir John Young ‘Jackie’ Stewart OBE and Danish professional racing driver, and 9 times Le Mans winner, Tim Kristensen.

Brushing shoulders with such racing legends and being exposed to an array of exquisite vintage cars was like a dream come true! Melanie and Willie were able to get up close and personal to the racing, and view the mix of classic cars at close range in the paddocks, adding to the overall excitement and experience of the event.

Thankfully for the Revival, the weather managed to stay dry all day, much to the surprise of the pair who even managed to soak up the rays amidst the atmosphere – in fact the lack of rain was probably the only quintessentially British factor missing from the event! A fantastic day had by both, with other guests, Kim and Piers Robinson – the event was truly a memorable experience enjoyed by all.
