It was yet another busy day for the Wakefields team in store on Friday 27th November. Whilst many stores lowered their prices to compete in the Black Friday sales, Wakefields Jewellers opened their doors after hours for an exclusive, invitation only, Cocktail and Gemstone evening. Offering a ‘one night only’ discount of 15% to each of the guests, with the proceeds going towards the ‘Look Good Feel Better’ charity – a fantastic cause that supports women suffering from the side effects of Cancer.

The team had arranged for some of the biggest names within the jewellery industry, to showcase their fine jewellery designs. The list of names included Clive Gayler, from Richard Hans BeckerDavid Fell from Krieger and Sheldon Bloomfield himself, accompanied by his daughter, Rebecca – each exhibiting some of the most exquisite and exotic gemstone creations. Bridging the gap between fine and fashion jewellery, award-winning jewellery designer, Shaun Leane, also attended the event with Claire Ullah, displaying his classic yet contemporary, statement pieces. As proud stockists of Shaun Leane‘s beautiful creations, it was a fantastic opportunity for both the team and the guests to learn about the inspiration behind his jewellery and how his designs have progressed over time.

The gemstones weren’t the only things that sparkled on the evening though, as the head barman, Benz, from the restaurant Wabi in Horsham, became one of the stars of the event. In order to tie in with the evening’s theme, they created a fantastic cocktail menu, inspired by many of the fine gemstones on display in store – from Tanzanite to Topaz, guests enjoyed the beautiful beverages, each iced with edible diamonds for a luxurious finish.

As the champagne cocktails flowed, guests were also given the opportunity to nibble on some delightful canapes from Alimento CateringMatthew Hart and his fantastic team had prepared Smoked Salmon Macaroons, Partridge and Cranberry Sausage Rolls and Goats Cheese and Parmesan Cookies, to name just a few of the savoury snacks on offer. Whilst those with a sweeter tooth could enjoy a miniature, Caramel Pannacotta or Chocolate and Honeycomb Mousse.

In order to thank those attending, Melanie Wakefield gave a speech, highlighting again the wonderful discount the guests could enjoy in support of Look Good Feel Better. Both Melanie and Dominic then went on to surprise a much-loved member of staff, with an extra special gift. After working at Wakefields for 18 years, December will mark the retirement of our Fine Jewellery Manager Elizabeth Kirk. In order to thank her for her years of dedication and hard work within the company, the pair presented Liz with a Rolex, much to her delight! A few tears were shed not only by an overwhelmed Liz, in appreciation for her thoughtful gift, but by a few of our guests too.

To finish the evening, each guest was given a goodie bag filled with miniature trinkets – Alexis Dove’s Wild Fig & Grape candles and beauty samples from Beauty Secrets salon & spa were just a few of the treasures inside the bags.

It was wonderful to see such a brilliant turn out of people, with guests absorbing the bubbling, festive atmosphere surrounding the exquisite gemstones and cocktails! We’d like to thank everyone who attended the evening for helping us to raise a grand total of £1173 towards the charity Look Good Feel Better!
