If you’re looking for a romantic alternative to diamonds, look no further than the alluring Morganite. The precious gemstone’s peachy-pink glow is subtle enough to consider it a muted, neutral hue, but it adds enough colour to be a warming change to the classic, frosty sparkle of Diamonds.
Over the last year, Morganite has really increased in popularity, following the demand for rose gold jewellery – which looks incredible when married together as a pairing. If you’re not familiar with the Morganite as a gemstone, no need to fret, we’ve highlighted the reasons why this particular gem could be what you’ve been searching for all along!

Morganite is a member of the beryl mineral family, along with emerald and aquamarine. The gemstone is known for its most desirable shades of light pink and rose pink, however Morganite naturally occur in a variety of shades, ranging from orange and yellow to soft shades of Violet too.

Originally known as Pink Beryl, the gemstone was renamed in 1911 by George F. Kunz, chief gemmologist at Tiffany & Co., in honour of legendary financier and gem collector J.P. Morgan – the Morganite.

Found in a number of locations across the globe, two of the most significant deposits are found in Brazil & Madagascar, though the very first deposit of Morganite was discovered in California, USA.

Ranking at a 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, the Morganite makes a lovely addition to gemstone jewellery and is durable enough to wear, providing it’s treated with care to protect it against scratching and hard knocks.

Morganite is believed to be a powerful stone which facilitates the flow of energy throughout the body due to its ability to bring pure love to the wearer. Said to balance emotions, promote self-confidence, peace and open up the channels of love and energy, Morganite is often considered one of the most romantic gemstones, making it incredibly popular within contemporary engagement rings.

The growth in popularity for Morganite could be due to a number of factors, firstly is that Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Marsala’ has increased the demand for shades of red, rose gold and lighter peach shades in all areas of design from jewellery to fashion and interior design. It seems also that many celebrities and online influencers are opting for coloured gemstone jewellery, in particular the trend of coloured gemstone engagement rings, is very much in vogue – Morganite bridges the gap between white diamonds and the gemstones which take on deeper, richer shades such as Emeralds and Sapphires.

We’ve seen many celebrities opt for pink gemstones within their engagement rings over the last few years and though they may be pink diamonds instead of morganite, it’s their love for the hue that has ignited a passion for pink stones across the globe. Our top 3 favourite pink diamond engagement rings are as follows:

Jennifer Lopez:

The singer / actress may have come from humble beginnings as ‘Jenny from the block’ but since becoming a household name, she’s become accustomed to the finer things in life.
