HERITAGE BLACK BAY CHRONO

The famous Heritage Black Bay family welcomes its first in-house manufacture chronograph with self-winding movement, column wheel and vertical clutch.

Since the presentation in 1970 of the Prince Oysterdate Chronograph, its first chronograph, TUDOR has always produced watches that are closely tied to the world of motorsports. In the same way, since 1954 TUDOR has been constantly moving its professional divers’ watches. The new hybrid Heritage Black Bay Chrono chronograph dares to combine the aquatic heritage represented by the Black Bay family with the queen of the racetrack, the chronograph. Remaining faithful to the Black Bay aesthetic with the famous snowflake hands – a brand signature since 1969 – the Heritage Black Bay Chrono model offers optimum readability against the domed matt black dial. Its sub-counters re hollowed for optimum contrast and a date aperture is positioned at 6 o’clock. The recognisable characteristics of the Black Bay are preserved in a steel case with a 41-millimetre diameter, fitted with pushers inspired by the first generation of TUDOR chronographs. A fixed bezel in circular satin-brushed steel with engraved tachymetric scale completes the face of this sporty new chronograph.

TUDOR HERITAGE BLACK BAY CHRONO

The Manufacture Chronograph Calibre MT5813

Boasting a 70-hour power reserve, a silicon balance spring and certification by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing institute, the Manufacture chronograph Calibre MT5813 that drives the Heritage Black Bay Chrono model is a high-performance movement. Crafted in the purest watchmaking tradition, with column wheel mechanism and vertical clutch. In keeping with the TUDOR philosophy of quality, it presents extraordinary robustness and reliability, guaranteed by an array of extreme tests applied to all TUDOR products. Derived from the chronograph manufacture calibre Breitling 01, with a high-precision regulating organ developed by TUDOR and exclusive finishes, this movement is a result of a recent collaboration between the two brands, which now pool their expertise in the design and production of certain mechanical movements.

A Denim-Style Jacquard Woven Strap

The fabric strap is one of the signatures of the Heritage line, and TUDOR was one of the first watch brands to offer it. Woven on 19th century Jacquard looms by a 150-year-old family firm from the region of Saint-Etienne, its manufacturing quality and comfort on the wrist are unique. The Heritage Black Bay Chrono model presents a complimentary navy-blue denim-style strap designed by TUDOR and woven by this craftsman. In addition to the complimentary denim-style strap that comes with every Heritage Black Bay Chrono, there is a choice of two bracelet designs. The first is a steel bracelet inspired by the folding riveted bracelets of the TUDOR watches produced in the 1950s and 1960s. These were famous for having rivet heads for attaching the links, shown on the side of bracelet. The links also had a distinct stepped construction. These two aesthetic details are integrated into this strap, which still presents a modern construction with solid links. The second is a leather strap in a rich brown, with folding clasp.

HERITAGE BLACK BAY STEEL

TUDOR’s famous Heritage Black Bay divers’ watch is now available in an all-steel version with the bezel insert in brushed steel. Fitted with the Manufacture Calibre MT5612, the Heritage Black Bay Steel model also introduces the date function to the Black Bay family.

An emblematic model celebrating 60 years of TUDOR divers’ watches with extraordinary craftsmanship, this new model with an all steel look enriches the Heritage Black Bay collection. In this version, Black Bay lines and proportions are retained, while the disc of the rotating bezel is machined from steel and circular satin-brushed for a matt appearance and a highly functional overall effect, embracing the distinctness of the TUDOR divers’ watch.

TUDOR Heritage Black Bay Steel

The Manufacture Calibre MT5612

This is a variation of the movement first presented by TUDOR in 2015 and has been developed for the Heritage Black Bay Steel model. A date function features for the first time in the Black Bay family, adding to the hour, minute and second functions that are a feature of all Black Bay models. A high-performance calibre of superb precision and proven robustness. With a 70-hour power reserve, a wearer can take off the watch on Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to re-set and wind it. Beating to a frequency of 28,800 beats / hour of 4 Hz, the movement is regulated by a variable inertia oscillator with silicon balance spring. This is held in place by a traversing bridge, guaranteeing its robustness. Furthermore, the movement is certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

A “Riveted” Bracelet

The bracelet of a Heritage Black Bay Steel model is inspired by the folding riveted bracelets of the TUDOR watches produced in the 1950s and 1960s. These were famous for having rivet heads for attaching the links, shown on the side of the bracelet. The links also had a distinct stepped construction. These two aesthetic details are incorporated into the bracelet of the Heritage Black Bay Steel model, integrating modern manufacturing methods using solid links. Available in two designs, it also comes on a black aged leather strap with folding clasp. Both versions come with additional khaki green fabric strap. Made using the Jacquard technique, a traditional method achieved by a 150-year-old family firm from the Saint-Etienne region of France, this strap is a signature feature of TUDOR’s Heritage line.
