Bespoke Jewellery Design in Horsham

When it comes to bespoke jewellery design, as the name suggests each piece is as unique as the one before it. Which is exactly why we’ve tailored the process to suit every individual who comes to us in store.

If you’re dreaming of a new piece of jewellery that’s an entirely original, one-off design, or feel like it’s time to update a piece of antique jewellery into something more modern, the first step is to call us, or pop in store to arrange a consultation with Melanie Wakefield.

With over 30 years of experience to her name, a fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA) and having been awarded the Diamond Gem Award (DGA), it’s fair to say that Melanie is more than qualified in her area of expertise. Once you’ve had a chat with Melanie about how you envision your design to look and specified exactly what you want your jewellery to be crafted from, or gemstones reset in etc., Melanie will then mock up some drawings for you and once you’re happy they’ll be sent off to our jeweller who’ll create the technical versions to scale.

At this point in the process you’ll have the opportunity to re-work the design, whether you choose to manipulate the setting, mix up the gemstones or opt for a different metal. And once every tiny detail to your design is perfect in your mind, the jeweller can begin working on your bespoke piece.

Technical drawings can take a minimum of 2 weeks to produce, and making the actual design will also take a minimum of two weeks, but obviously all of this is dependent on the complexity and intricacy of your design, so if you’re having a piece of jewellery designed for a special occasion we always advise you to prepare for the maximum amount of time.

Though we’re unable to mock up a scale version of your final design in wax beforehand, we do offer the option for a copy to be crafted from silver first. However it should be noted that an additional cost will be added in order to create this, and the overall timeframe extended due to the extra time needed it will take to create a copy.

Jewellery design is one of our passions at Wakefields, so if you’re unsure of whether your treasured vintage jewellery is suitable to be remodelled into something new. Or you’d be interested to receive a quote from us for any work you’d like done, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that you can trust us to deliver a reliable, high-quality service where your happiness is our main concern – to begin your bespoke jewellery design journey today, simply pop in store or give us a call to arrange a free consultation.
