As we approach Armistice Day on the 11th November we start to see an array poppies pinned onto the jumpers, shirts and lapels of men and woman across the UK – a widespread mark of respect and unity as we all remember the people who have died in the wars.

Poppies were the only flowers to grow on the battlefields after World War I ended, because of this, the flowers were chosen as a symbol of remembrance and the Poppy Appeal was created in aid of The Royal British Legion.

Over the years we’ve seen the evolution of the poppy during the Poppy Appeal – once only a simple paper flower, the Poppy Shop now hosts a whole array of fun and unique designs. Crafted from ceramic, knitted from wool or studded with gems, the Poppy has many different looks these days.

In keeping with the developments of the more contemporary designs, fine jewellery brand, Clogau, have created a beautiful Welsh Poppy collection. Fitting perfectly into the brand’s Autumnal collection, Clogau’s Welsh Poppy designs allow you to wear your poppy proudly in style. The set consists of a matching pendant, ring and earrings, capturing the beauty of the iconic flower with the elegantly curved petals and sparkling black diamonds and rubies and adorned with glowing rose gold containing rare Welsh gold.

The collection supports the Welsh charity, HTW Support (Healing the Wounds) who assist veterans to cope with life after the forces and helping families across Wales with emotional and practical support – £10 of each Clogau Welsh Poppy piece sold is donated to HTW Support, so their collection is a lovely opportunity to keep as an everlasting Poppy to wear each year and to support a worthy cause at the same time.

If you’re interested in seeing Clogau’s Welsh Poppy collection with your own eyes, don’t hesitate to have a look in our windows on West Street, or pop inside and say hello to a member of our team who’ll be only too happy to assist you.
